Yuneec has just announced the release of the Typhoon H RS to the Typhoon H line. This version of the Typhoon H incorporates Intel’s® RealSense™ technology for the aerial professional. Working hand in hand with Yuneec’s flight control system the RealSense™ module detects various objects in its surroundings to better assist the pilot in both manual and automatic controls. Dedicated cameras and sensors create a 3D map of the environment which then allows the Typhoon H to learn it’s position in respect to obstacles and route a flight plan. When GPS signal strength is weak or limited the indoor positioning system assists the pilot for a more stable flight.
The Typhoon H RS features the same CGO3+ gimbal and camera unit as the basic version. The new sensor on the CGO3+ shoots in ultra high definition up to 4K video at 30 frames per second and takes stills at 12MP. A three axis gimbal provides for stabilization and smooth pilot control.
Packaged with the Typhoon H RS is the ST16 ground station, soft Typhoon H Backpack, two total 5400 mAh lipo batteries, and the infamous Typhoon Wizard remote controller.
The ST16 ground station is not your ordinary remote controller. Mimicked after professional remote controls, it features a 7″ Android tablet which provides live video feed at 720p. The ground station allows for full control of the Typhoon H as well as the camera. Using the iOS or Android application, users can also connect to their Typhoon H camera to gain similar functions.
Current Typhoon H owners will not have to miss out on the Intel® RealSense™ features. Yuneec will release an upgrade RealSense™ module that will allow existing users to add it to their Typhoon H’s. This module will be released in the near future.
