DJI Phantom 4 – Rumors and Speculations

Many of you have probably seen the leaked rumors, speculations, and photos of the all new Phantom 4 by industry drone leader DJI. Although these rumors have not been confirmed many think they have a good idea of what to expect from tomorrows release. It is obvious that DJI mimics many of Apples business models when it comes to marketing, product release, and overall appearance. Thus the release of the DJI Phantom 4 was inevitable during the springs months of 2016.

DJI-Phantom-4-(2)Below are a few specifications that may be included on the Phantom 4.

Active track or active flight system: This feature will allow users to track objects in its’ frame. A patent filed by DJI indicates a trademark of two crucial terms, ‘Active Track’ and ‘Tap Track.’ Tracking may allow users to focus on a subject while moving.

Collision avoidance while in RTH: With the pre-release of the Typhoon H during CES 2016, many industry users were impressed with Intel’s Real Sense technology. After reviewing the leaked photos of the DJI Phantom 4 it seems clear that there will be some sort of collision avoidance on the aircraft. It is also speculated that this function may only be available while the drone is in RTH (Return To Home).

Flight Time: Based on other leaked photos there may be an opportunity for longer flight times for the DJI Phantom 4. A bigger battery compartment bay may allow for a larger battery for longer flight times.

Camera specs at 2.7k 60 FPS and 4.6k 24 FPS in video mode: Many users utilize drones for cinematography and photography, thus camera specs is always of interest. When using the video feature, may have the ability to record 2.7k at 60 FPS, catering more to high speed or action shots. In keeping with the Phantom 3 Professional and the Inspire 1, there is a possibility that 4K may be the standard.

360° Panoramic photos: We all saw this on the DJI Osmo when it was released a few months back and it now may be available on the all new Phantom. Although this is a stretch, since the landing gears seem static, 360° may be accomplished using another method.

Possible Zoom and/or Focus: This may be a stretch, however the two tilt arms must play a key role on the camera.

The above is pure speculation based on the information that is floating around and none of this has been confirmed. In as little as 12 hours all drone enthusiast will have a clear understanding of what DJI has in store for us.
