DJI Reveals the all New DJI Spark Personal Drone

DJI Spark Personal Compact Drone

Today in Grand Central Terminal in New York City DJI unveiled the all new DJI Spark compact personal drone. The spark builds off the small and compact form factor of the DJI Mavic Pro, however it has actually decreased in size and weight. This decrease in size and weight have allowed the spark to become a personal drone that can be carried with you anywhere you go.

The DJI Spark features a small and compact fixed frame with a flight time of up to 16 minutes. The all new 2 axis gimbal features ultra smooth technology which assists to stabilize the video from the gimbal. The camera on the Spark has the capability of recording in 1080P 30fps and capture 12MP stills from its 1/2.3” sensor.

The flight autonomy modes on the Spark largely carry over from the Mavic and Phantom 4 series, however there are a few new flight modes worth mentioning. First is Quick Shot, this mode has four preprogrammed flight sequences enabling you to capture impressive aerial imagery with the touch of a button. The second is gesture control, the previous models only used gestures for taking photos, however the DJI Spark can be fully controlled using your Palm to direct the drone where to go. The DJI Spark features a DJI first Quick Launch, this allows the drone to recognize your face as it is facing you. It then will take off right from the palm of your hand, stay in a stabilized hover as it waits for your command.

The flight experience with the DJI Spark is unmatched by any other drone of its size, with a top speed of 31mph in sport mode and multiple front and downward sensors. The front 3D sensing system ensures that the aircraft can see and avoid obstacles from up to 16 feet away, and the bottom VPS sensor ensures you have accurate positioning from up to 98 feet. As with previous generations of drones from DJI, the Spark features 24 high performance computing cores, a dual-band GPS system and high performance internal measurement unit. The combination of these systems ensure that the DJI Spark will have a safe and reliable flight experience.

The DJI Spark will be available in 5 different colors, including Alpine White, Sky Blue, Meadow Green, Lava Red and Sunrise Yellow. The Spark will also be featured with a Fly More Combo similar to the Mavic Pro Fly More Combo. The Fly More Combo will include the Spark drone, remote controller, propeller guards, charging hub, extra battery, extra propellers and shoulder bag.

Pricing for the Spark drone will start at $499 for the basic drone package, whereas the Fly More Combo will be priced at $699 for a total savings of $154 if purchased separately.
