With only 12 hours until the release of DJI’s new drone, DJI Mavic, a lot of rumors are now floating the internet and social media channels. From what we have seen and learned from these channels the DJI Mavic may be a direct competitor to the GoPro Karma.

VLOG TEASER

A VLOG posted by skier Jon Olsso was posted for the release of the iPhone 7. At the end of the VLOG you can see Jon holding the black DJI aluminum case that many of may have seen as the DJI Mavic case. Although he doesn’t show us the contents of the black aluminum DJI box, he does share that he will be at the live event.

LIVE EVENT

Invitations were sent out early this month via email to a special live unveiling event on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 11:30am EDT. Early last week DJI placed a banner on their page confirming this event for those that wanted to join in on the live event via their website. A screenshot from DJI’s homepage can be found below.

MAVIC TEASER VIDEO

A teaser was released by DJI on their social media stream including DJI’s You Tube channel. The video showcases various scenes of where the DJI Mavic may have been used. The theme of the teaser being “Adventure”.

LEAKED PHOTOS

Leaked photos have been floating around social media of the proposed DJI Mavic. The new drone is suspected to be a bit smaller. Based on the following battery leaked just recently, we know it will be based on a 3S 3830mAh LiPo battery. It will most likely be a compact drone capable used for aerial photos, or a bit larger than normal FPV Racing Drone.

Popular drone blogs such as “My First Drone” and “Quadcopter Guide” showcase other photos that were acquired through anonymous sources. The first photo below shows the DJI Mavic in a compact folding design. This design may allow the arms and rotors to fold into the quadcopters body for compact storage and transport.

This new transformable drone allows the front arms of the quad to fold forward from the rear of the body. They will lock in place on the side of the protected camera housing. The arms stored near the front of the drone body will fold back to the rear downwards. This allows the propellers to be on top of the motors once the arms are fully locked in place.

Actual photos have recently leaked showcasing the Mavic in actual hands of a user. Below you can see the Mavic’s foldable arms, propellers, and stereoscopic sensors. Earlier photos of the bubble enclosure are not present in the real world photos.

The second photo showcases the camera housing with either a 2 axis or 3 axis gimbal. The underside also shows the stereoscopic sensors for indoor stability or possibly position or height hold. This photo also shows us the foldable arms as well as propellers for storage and compactness.

In the third photo you can see what could possibly be the transmitter for the Mavic. The bottom of the remote control appears to fold out itself as well, perhaps to allow a mobile device to be attached as is the case with all other DJI drones.
